A Reason to Smile

To appreciate the importance of a community dental clinic, Nicole Bock looks no further than her children’s smiles.

Nicole and her children, Issiah, 7, Bianc, 5, and Tristan, 3, each had checkups at the Riverview Community Dental Clinic. The clinic provides access to dental services for eligible children and adults on BadgerCare and Medicaid who have not had access to dental care.

“This gives everybody a chance for equal care,” Nicole emphasized. “So many clinics don’t accept Medicaid. We need this—this is helping families.”

More than 900 people from the south Wood County area were on the waiting list. A $29,000 grant through Incourage Community Foundation’s unrestricted and donor advised fund contributions of more than $12,000 helped the clinic expand its operations from two to three days per week.
