Through their assistance in planning the Community Picnic, both have enjoyed connecting with fellow residents for the first time, or reconnecting with them. “I’ve created and maintained new relationships with various community members and business owners. It’s inspiring to hear so many positive things about the community instead of the negative,” Sarah shared.

Sarah has found an even greater passion for the community and residents through the planning process, and is excited about her future here. “I feel lucky to live in such a dynamic, small town.”

“There is the old saying ‘it takes a village’. If everyone would become engaged in something they may be passionate about or interested in, they would see the potential and the growth,” Tammy said. “As an involved community member, to see a younger generation involved is inspiring!” Adds Sarah, “The best thing you can do is get involved. The world is run by those who show up.”

Volunteering is very important to Tammy and Sarah, and the mother-daughter duo are very active in the community. Tammy, vice president at Ron’s Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, serves on the Board of Directors for ODC and assists in events they host, such as the Green Bay Packers Tailgate Tour. She also volunteers at the South Wood County Food Pantry, and served as president of the Assumption Foundation. Sarah is a Health Educator at Wood County Health Department, leading programs such as the River Riders Bike Share and the Chronic Disease Coalition. She also serves on the steering committee for Current – Wisconsin Rapids and the regional advisory board of an initiative by Why We Work Here coming to local high schools. Lastly, her musical talents have been displayed through ODC’s Locals on Stage and her musical duo with Pam Ross, coined “The Antonettes”.

Tammy and Sarah agree that our community has so much to offer. Their hope is that we all can work together to create a prosperous community that works for everyone.

Aquatics has surfaced as a high community priority for over a decade as documented by countless news articles and resident survey results. Dating back to 2005 when the SWC Aquatic Center Committee first formed, Incourage has consistently supported community efforts related to aquatics.

We’re excited that the City is taking action on this important community issue and hope you will attend the City’s presentation on aquatics scheduled for Tuesday, July 26 at 6:00pm at McMillan Memorial Library.
