Resident Profile: Tony Perez
Tony Perez believes that everyone is special in their own unique way. As a U.S. mail carrier, Tony experiences this daily on his routes. “You learn about each person and their lives (unintentionally) on the routes to which you deliver, and this brings its own rewards.”

Team Incourage has seen Tony’s smiling face as he delivers our mail, and has gotten to know him on a more personal level than a mail carrier. “I believe in the positive effect of a kind word, warm gesture, and a smile,” Tony said. “You never know when any of these, by themselves or combined, could bring a person having a bad day back to feeling that tomorrow might be better.”

Tony is currently going back to school at Mid-State Technical College to earn his associate degree in Business Management, with an emphasis in Healthcare Management. “I feel that I have a lot to teach, and as a manager I would have the perfect opportunity to mold and shape personnel with whom I engage.” He has learned that it isn’t easy to return to school, but, “If you want something bad enough, you must make the time to accomplish it.”

“My college experience so far has shown me that looking out for others and lending a helping hand is a path that should be adopted by everyone in the community. If we all just cared a little bit more, I think that we could tackle some of the prevalent problems that have affected our community.”

Workforce Central receives $50K

Incourage’s Workforce Central program was one of four sites in the nation awarded a grant from the National Fund to pilot customized job quality business assessments and improvement strategies. This will help local companies attract, grow and retain a workforce that supports them in raising their competitive advantage. Read more!
Support The School at Altenburg’s Farm
Now through June 30, your contribution to support Harold’s vision will be matched up to $25,000 from the Barker Fund for Youth through Incourage. This will be to support start-up expenses for The School to develop ag-related life skills. View the matching grant announcement and web page.
Community Information Session: Tribune Building
Weds, Mar 8 | 5:30 – 7:00pm | McMillan Auditorium (490 E Grand Ave)
Is the Tribune Building ever going to open? How will it be paid for? Will it compete with other businesses?
Do you hear these questions about the Tribune Building, or have some of your own? Join us to get answers to these questions, ask any others you may have, and learn more about the Tribune Building. Invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers to attend with you! RSVP here.

Voice your support for the Tribune Building
We need your help! If you support the Tribune Building Project, please voice that support by contacting state officials.
As we shared at the end of last year, Incourage submitted a proposal to include the Tribune in the 2017 State Building Commission budget. If successful, the Tribune could receive up to $7.35 million in grant funding for construction. To maximize this and other funding opportunities, we need your continued commitment, leadership, and investment now more than ever.

Share why the Tribune is important to you, to our downtown, and to our community’s future.
