Resident Profile – Zach Coleman

You’ve probably encountered Wisconsin Rapids native and entrepreneur Zach Coleman through his assistance in helping you pick out the perfect beer or wine, whether it be in his store, at an event, or out promoting our community. Zach opened Richard’s Liquors in Wisconsin Rapids with his wife, Krystal, in 2014. In addition, he sits on the steering committee for Current – Wisconsin Rapids, the local young professionals organization and helps coordinate the annual Boys & Girls Club event A Toast to Great Futures, to name a few of his many activities.

“When I was younger, I couldn’t wait to move away. But since moving back almost six years ago, I can’t imagine being anywhere else!” Zach said. This is a common story heard in our community. After spending several years in Colorado, he returned to his hometown, and now resides in Vesper. Thanks to a firm belief in the area’s opportunity, he and Krystal opened Richard’s Liquors, named after his grandfather. Their aim? To have a great selection with superior customer service. They’re thankful every day for their customers’ support. “We strive to grow and serve the community,” Zach shared.

Zach has a strong passion for giving back. Through his relationships with distributors, breweries, and local industry pals like Great Northern Distilling and Sunset Point Winery, he has helped make A Toast to Great Futures a great success. The most rewarding part for him last year was taking a step back the night of the event and seeing everything running smoothly, with a full house of great people. “Planning an event of this size is tough, but our great community makes it fun and engaging!” Zach said of the affair. He’s looking forward to having the same great reflective experience at this year’s event on April 28.

As a committee member of Current – Wisconsin Rapids, Zach chooses to focus on optimism and help others see our community’s positive aspects. “Being able to have the outdoor resources and beauty that we have while being close to my family is incredible,” said the avid kayaker. He has gained new friends, and a new respect for many people in this community and our shared future. Zach is especially excited for YPWeek at the end of April, and a unique event called “HATCH” in May, geared toward area entrepreneurs.

“My hope for the future is that we can continue to evolve and grow,” Zach said. “I hope this area can remain the same great place for my nieces and nephews that it was for me growing up.”
